Azurin orders assessment of PNP facilities, affected personnel due to 'Karding'

Gen. Rodolfo Azurin, Jr., chief of the Philippine National Police (PNP), ordered on Monday, Sept. 26, all police commanders in areas affected by the super typhoon "Karding" to conduct assessment if there is any damage on police facilities in their respective areas.

At the same time, Azurin tasked police the chiefs of police and other police commanders to check the status of their respective personnel to determine if they were affected by the weather disturbance.

The PNP has its own funds to finance the repair of police stations and other offices that are damaged in times of natural calamities.

The assessment, he said, is aimed at expediting the downloading of funds for the repair--if there are PNP facilities damaged by "Karding".

"We also want to make sure that we take good care of our personnel. That's the reason why we need the reports of our personnel on the ground to know if there are PNP personnel who were adversely affected by this weather disturbance," said Azurin.

He said this is part of the Malasakit + Kaayusan +Kapayapaan = Kaunlaran program that he initiated when he took over the top PNP post last month.

Super typhoon "Karding" unleashed heavy rains and strong winds that forced the evacuation of thousands of people in Luzon, road closures and damage to properties and other structures.
