Jericho Proud Of ‘Alagwa,’ Fabulous 2012

Jericho Rosales opens the final quarter of 2012 with a series of exciting projects beginning with his much-awaited comeback on primetime television via ABS-CBN’s upcoming soap, to be directed by Malu Sevilla, “Against All Odds,” which he will star together with Judy Ann Santos, Sam Milby, KC Concepcion, Tirso Cruz III and Coney Reyes. Jericho is also gearing up for his reality TV show “I Dare You,” which he alternates hosting with Robi Domingo and which will soon return on air for a second season next year while he continues his hosting job as one of the main artists featured on “ASAP 2012.” Jericho is also nominated for Best Actor in the upcoming PMPC Star Awards For TV for his impressive performance on “Dahil Sa Pag-ibig.”
In film, Jericho’s very first co-production venture into the indie movie circuit is through the motion picture “Alagwa (Breakaway),” which recently made its world premiere at the 17th Busan International Film Festival (BIFF) held in Busan, South Korea – a prestigious South Korean Festival Window on Asian Cinema section.
In “Alagwa,” Jericho collaborated with Anakim Productions and filmmaker Ian Lorenos. A Hollywood reporter describes “Alagwa” as a low-budget standout, “This sophomore effort from young Filipino director, Ian Lorenos, is not only a powerful film about human trafficking; it is also a small gem portraying a father-son relationship with nothing fake or sentimental about it.” He also commended the top-notch performance of Jericho and child actor Bugoy Cariño. “The film owes a great deal to the natural chemistry between singer-actor Rosales and Cariño, the child star of the TV series ‘E-Boy,’ whose playful, mischievous nature contrasts with Rosales’ nervous hen approach to child-rearing. The spontaneity is a welcome change from the usual parent-child sentimentality on screen.”
“Alagwa” also stars Leo Martinez, Smokey Manaloto, John Manalo, Jeremiah Rosales, Inaki Ting, Garry Lim, Nanette Inventor, Jamieson Lee, EJ Caro and in a very special cameo role, the beautiful Malaysian star, Carmen Soo. Awit Awardee Gabriel Valenciano makes a film debut through producing and arranging the musical scoring for this movie. The Jericho-Gabriel tandem has produced some of Rosales’ finest recordings like “Bumuhos Man Ang Ulan,” “Naaalala Ka,” and “Dahil Sa Pag-Ibig.”
The World Premier screening opened with a full-house crowd, attended to by filmmakers, the press, and other participants in the festival. “Alagwa” is Jericho’s most recent foray in the international scene since the successful premiere of his first Hollywood film, “Subject, I Love You” held at the Newport Film Festival in California, USA. Two of the three “Alagwa” screenings were all sold-out in Korea.
Jericho also recently released his newest solo album under Star records entitled “Korona.” The album features six all-original alternative OPM songs including its carrier single “Paboritong Tag-Ulan,” which was written by Jericho and composed by album co-producer and Star Records’ audio and content manager Jonathan Manalo. Another version of this song is a duet with OPM singer, Julianne; “Dahil Sa Pag-ibig,” which was the theme song of Jericho’s most recent drama series of the same title; “Kasama Ka;” “Halaga;” “Bumuhos Man ang Ulan” and “Pusong Ligaw.” “Korona” also highlights Jericho’s revival of a Freddie Aguilar hit “Kamusta Ka Aking Mahal” and Sugarfree’s “Makita Kang Muli,” which was the theme song of ABS-CBN’s 2005 drama epic “Ang Panday” that starred Jericho.
Jericho’s “Korona” album is now available in all record bars nationwide. Digital tracks can also be downloaded via www.mymusicstore.com.ph.
Jericho, who is once again included in Yes! Magazine’s 2012 list of 100 Most Beautiful Celebrities and remains to be one of the top celebrity product endorsers with solid support from his corporate brand partners such as Smart, Talk ‘n Text, Advil, Walker, Vantage Razor, Vaseline Men, Jericho Fragrances & Deodorants by Natasha, Coast Thru Life, Hope In a Bottle and Collezione.
“I feel very blessed to be able to do what I love to do: Both singing and acting. I hope that through my craft, I can give something back and bring the glory back to The Lord,” says Jericho.
