PATROL CARS

CAMP GENERAL PACIANO RIZAL, Laguna – The Laguna provincial government bought 10 Foton pick-up patrol cars for the Laguna Police Provincial Office (PPO) to help maintain the peace and order situation in the province. The keys to the vehicles were turned over by Laguna Gov. Jeorge Ejercito to Laguna PPO director Senior Supt. Fausto Manzanilla in a ceremony last Tuesday. Manzanilla also presented to Ejercito his accomplishment report since he became head of the Laguna police in September, 2012, including the arrest of hundreds of people who were involved in the Small Town Lottery (STL) under the provincial police’s drive against illegal activities. MILD TREMORS

SINAIT, Ilocos Sur  – Three mild earthquakes hit Northern and Central Luzon early morning yesterday.Local Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) researcher Porferio De Peralta said the first quake was of 3.9 magnitude at 2:48 a.m. with epicenter at 11 kms. northwest of Pagudpud, Ilocos Norte and with a depth of 12 kms.; the second was of 3.5 magnitude at 3:00 a.m. with a depth of 26 kms. and with its epicenter at 14 kms. northeast of Pagudpud, Ilocos Norte ; the third was of 2.2 magnitude at 7:06 a.m. with a depth of 17 kms. and epicenter at10 kms. northeast of Palayan City, Nueva Ecija., all tectonic in origin, with no aftershocks. TOURISM KIOSKS

PANGASINAN (PIA) – Two Pangasinan towns were recipients of tourism and information kiosks delivered by the provincial government recently. Mabini and Agno towns were awarded with tourism and information kiosks composed of a movable panel equipped with 42-inch LCD TV, DVD player, and CDs and a computer set which will be placed in the lobby area of their respective municipal halls. The tourism kiosk, Gov. Amado Espino Jr said, provides public access to information regarding the province and their town, the Provincial Information Office reported. “This will be useful as informational videos will be seen by visitors and local residents,” he said.

OUTSTANDING COOPS

ILAGAN CITY, Isabela (PIA) – The local chief executive of Isabela recognized during the recent 13th Faustino N. Dy Sr. cooperatives recognition rites all outstanding Isabela cooperatives, cooperative leaders and councils which have shown exemplary performance in managing the financial and human resources of the cooperatives. Governor Faustino G. Dy III handed certificates and plaques of recognition, trophies, and cash awards to outstanding cooperatives excelling in giving services to their members. The Cauayan City Cooperative Council was adjudged winner in the search for most outstanding cooperative council and it received a plaque of recognition, trophy, and R10,000 cash prize.

NORTHPHIL EXPO

ANGELES CITY, Pampanga(PIA) – The 3rd North Philippines (NorthPhil) Tourism and Travel Expo will be held November 9-11 at Angeles City’s Marquee Mall, showcasing the rich culture and tradition, distinctive products and picturesque locations of Ilocos region, Cagayan Valley, Central Luzon and Cordillera. The Department of Tourism-Central Luzon (DOT-CL) said the event will feature pavilions of the Aurora, Bulacan, Nueva Ecija, Pampanga and Tarlac provinces; Clark Development Corporation, Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority; DOT Regional Offices 1,2,3 and CAR; and corporate booths of various tourism-related businesses such as hotels, resorts and airlines.
