Almost 10 out of 10 adult Filipinos are willing to go on self-quarantine for 14 days if they learned they have come into contact with a person with the 2019 novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19), the latest survey revealed.

 The Social Weather Stations (SWS) said on Friday, Oct. 30, that the results of its National Mobile Phone Survey conducted from Sept. 17 to 20 showed that “97% of adult Filipinos will self-quarantine if they came in contact with someone who tested positive for Covid-19.”

 The SWS said the survey also revealed “96% will give a list of all the people they’ve come in contact with if they tested positive for Covid-19” and “93% will give access to their cell phone location data if they tested positive for Covid-19.”

 On the other hand, 87 percent have expressed willingness to undergo weekly testing to track the progression of the virus.

 The SWS explained that the survey was part of a set of questions concerning their willingness to follow contact tracing system established by health officials in their local areas.

The survey conducted was “a probability-based survey conducted using mobile phone and computer-assisted telephone interviewing (CATI).”

The SWS noted there were 1,249 adult Filipinos, ages 18 years old and above, who participated in the survey that was conducted nationwide.

These include 309 in Metro Manila, 328 in Balance Luzon, 300 in the Visayas, and 312 in Mindanao.

The sampling error margin was ±3 percent for national percentages, ±6 percent for Metro Manila, ±5 percent for Balance Luzon, ±6 percent for the Visayas, and ±6 percent for Mindanao.
 
“The area estimates were weighted by the Philippine Statistics Authority medium-population projections for 2020 to obtain the national estimates,” the SWS said.

“The survey items reported here were non-commissioned. They were included on SWS's own initiative and released as a public service,” it also added.
