From The Catwalk To The Political Arena, Ramp Model Switches Fields

She made a name as a fashion model-designer and then statuesque Remedios “Baby” Bueno-Coady climbed up the ladder of fame even higher when she established herself as a gutsy and driven businesswoman who did events promotions and presented art exhibits and fashion shows (through her Baby Bueno Promotions) here and abroad among other endeavors.
Based for a long time in Hong Kong and Singapore, Baby Bueno’s`1983 collection was raved about by critics who said “Bueno’s lucid fashion statement is expressed in a splendid medley of rich fabrics, opulent accessories, dramatic shapes, exciting lines and dramatically unique color combinations. Her detailed innovative beadwork, fine laces and intricate embroidery, which accentuate Bueno’s creations, lend a fresh and very contemporary touch to classic lines.”
This is just a sample of the raves Baby received whenever she presented her clothes in fashion shows. One writer even wrote in The Strait Times that “indeed flamboyant, exuberant and frivolous describe both the lady and her clothes.” It was even said that women who wear Baby Bueno creations are blind fashion followers.
But Baby’s advice was “know the trends but pick your clothes with taste and daring, so that it is your personal style and not the label that is noticed.” She did not only promote her own line, but also those of Dior, Balenciaga, Versace, Ricci in her successful fashion shows abroad.
This was Baby Bueno of the late ’80s. Now, it’s a different Baby Bueno who has come back to her country of birth several years ago. Although she is still into various businesses, she has set her eyes on public service and that is why she intends to run as Board Member in the province of Zambales in the 2013 mid-year elections with her 3Ps advocacy: “Pangkalusugan, Pangkabuhayan, Pangkalikasan.” Baby hails from Sta. Cruz.
For the past few years now, Baby has been conducting community service for Aeta Communities in Botolan and Dumagat Communities in Nueva Ecija. She sponsors Medical Missions focusing primarily on cataract recovery and dental assistance, extends help to foreign detainees. She works closely with the Office of the President, Bureau of Internal Revenue and Commission on Audit concentrating on graft and corruption among government officials.
From 2006 to the present, Baby has been promoting art and artists from Southeast Asian countries to propose cultural and economic exchanges throughout the world. Baby is the President/CEO of the Baby Bueno Coady International Trading Company Ltd.
