Scattered rain showers, thunderstorms prevail over a portion of southern Luzon due to LPA

A low pressure area (LPA) is expected to bring scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over some areas in southern Luzon in the next 24 hours, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said on Monday, June 6.
PAGASA estimated the location of the LPA at 60 kilometers west of Romblon, Romblon, as of 3 a.m.
Weather specialist Aldczar Aurelio said the weather disturbance remained less likely to intensify into a tropical depression but could bring cloudy skies, scattered rain showers, and thunderstorms over Oriental Mindoro, Occidental Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, and Palawan.
PAGASA warned against possible flash floods or landslides due to moderate to heavy rains.
Meanwhile, the rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers due to localized thunderstorms.
PAGASA also advised the public to remain vigilant against possible flash floods or landslides during severe thunderstorms, which are often accompanied by sudden heavy rains, lightning, thunder, gusty winds, and sometimes hail.
The western section of the country may also experience light to moderate winds and slight to moderate coastal waters.
Meanwhile, the rest of the country will have light winds and slight coastal waters.
Aurelio said PAGASA has not monitored other LPAs or tropical cyclones near the country’s area of responsibility as of Monday morning.
