ANTIQUE DELEGATES
SAN JOSE, Antique (PIA) – Antique province delegates will attend the National Conference on Youth Employment and Migration (YEM) dubbed, "Investing in the youth as partners in development" at New World Hotel, Makati City today, Nov. 23. Antique, one of four provinces implementing the program will send a 21-man delegation to be led by Governor Exequiel B. Javier. Stakeholders and beneficiaries will share gains and good practices from the program spearheaded by Millennium Development Goals - Joint Programme on Youth Employment and Migration (MDG-JPYEM) in partnership with government and private organizations in helping out-of-school youth and disadvantaged families, said Gemma Pedregoza, field coordinator, International Organization for Migration (IOM) in Antique.
CAPOOCAN ANNIVERSARY
CAPOOCAN, Leyte – This coastal town marks its 95th founding anniversary today, November 23,2012 with such activities as thanksgiving mass, caravan to barangays, parade through major thoroughfares, and a program. Town Mayor Federico Carolino said he will deliver a speech containing a report on his accomplishments including the putting up of a fire station, fire truck purchase, ambulance donation from the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office, seawall and drainage canals construction, and public school teachers assistance and goods donations and provision of basic services to barangay officials and residents with the help of the provincial government. D.S.W.D. ASSISTANCE
ILOILO CITY, Iloilo (PNA) – The Department of Social Welfare and Development in Region 6 (DSWD 6) last Nov. 21 released R331,000 as livelihood support to 35 indigents from this city under the Sustainable Livelihood Project (SLP), a key poverty alleviation project of the national government implemented through the DSWD. Fifteen of the recipients are from Hinaktakan, Lapaz who are beneficiaries of the conditional cash transfer (CCT) program, Set 1, ending 2014. Each beneficiary received R10,000 to start a micro business as preparation for the culmination of their five-year cash grant. The 20 remaining recipients came from Tanza, Esperanza whose assistance ranges from R6,000 to R10,000.
PAMANA CHECKS
CATBALOGAN CITY, Samar (PIA) – The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Regional Director Pedro Noval turned over checks to the three Samar governors as a highlight of the Regional Peace and Order Council meeting yesterday, Nov. 22. Northern Samar Governor Paul Daza is chairman of the Council. Samar Pamana area manager Emy Bonifacio said the Samar governors will implement Pamana road projects in the three provinces. Samar will get R15 million for the San Jose de Buan road project, Northern Samar will get R15 million for the Silvino Lobos road project, and Eastern Samar, R10 million each for the Jipapad and Maslog roads.
A.V.R.C. ACCREDITED
CEBU CITY, Cebu (PIA) – Labangon, Cebu City-based Area Vocational Rehabilitation Center II (AVRC II), a vocational training center under the Department of Social Welfare and Development Field Office VII (DSWD FO-VII) has received its Certificate of Accreditation as a Training Institution for Massage Therapy from the Department of Health (DOH). The accreditation was given after the Committee of Examiners for Massage Therapy (CEMT) from DoH, Manila assessed AVRC II’s facilities, modules and pertinent documents.
