The forthcoming movie “Flames of Love” (scheduled for showing on Dec. 12) features seasoned and award-winning actors the like of Christopher de Leon, Dina Bonnevie, Lani Mercado, Jaclyn Jose, Ricky Davao and Allen Dizon that should really make the movie something to look forward to.

But it also has in its cast young stars who get to prove their mettle via the roles assigned them in the movie. They are Megan young, Mavi Lozano, Jodi Nebrida and Valerie Concepcion. The directors Gigi Alfonso and Baby Nebrida are all praise for them, and especially they were impressed by Valerie’s performance. Valerie plays a popular student during the day and a GRO at night, having affairs with various married men. It’s her most challenging role so far, she admits.

Megan, who has several soaps and movies to her credit, plays a religious young graduate, a very positive person and the girlfriend of a good boy played by Jodi, who is the producer of the film. Jodi said he’s really the all-around assistant of his mother Baby. Jodi is a graduating student from Entrepreneur School of Asia.

Mavi gets a good break in “Flames of Love,” playing the role of a lost youth who is into drugs and other vices. Mavi is a singer, and also plays the guitar.

To be released by Solar Entertainment, “Flames of Love” is the story of four families facing problems and difficult situations which the audience can relate to and sympathize with. Baby described the film as “inspiring, enlightening and entertaining as well.”

Also in the cast are Marita Zobel, Rina Reyes, Ku Aquino, Alvin Anson, Marnie Herrera Lapus, Rowie Cardona, Irene Celebre, Rita Dayrit and Fr. Gil Peter Coching.

The Dans Releases Debut Album

They are sisters with two distinct personalities, but Stephanie and Kim Dan are a remarkable blend when it comes to singing. And this they prove via their debut album as a duo aptly titled “The Dans: An Acoustic Journey,” a 13-track album released recently by Galaxy Records and Polyeast Records.

Among Steph’s influences are The Corrs, Whitney Houston, Katy Perry, Sara Bereilles and Alicia Keys among others. In 2011, she released “Love to Love Acoustic” under Sony Music, which was also released in Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore and Thailand. Last September, Steph was nominated as Female Acoustic Artist of the Year in the 4th PMPC Star Awards for Music.

Kim, on the other hand, had her solo debut and released a Christian album entitled “Bless” under music producer Jungee Marcelo with independent label RG7 in 2006.

“The Dans: An Acoustic Journey” contains the cover songs like “I Love You Like A Love Song,” “I Won’t Give Up,” “Call Me Maybe,” “Set Fire to the Rain,” “Why Can’t It Be” and “The Way I Remember” (an original composition which Steph co-wrote with American singer-songwriter David Dimuzio) among others.
