It is the hope of a Catholic prelate that the issue of the revival of the mothballed Bataan Nuclear Power Plant (BNPP) will finally be put to “eternal rest.”
“Let us stop discussing about rehabilitation of BNPP. Let the issue of its revival be put to eternal rest,” Balanga Bishop Ruperto Santos said in an interview.
The prelate reiterated that reviving the BNPP is a waste of money as it will not be beneficial to the country.
“To call for its rehabilitation will only be used for money and means for corruption,” said Santos.
The Balanga prelate said even the opinion of Russian Ambassador validated their position on BNPP.
“We are thankful to Ambassador Khovaev for speaking and standing about the truth of BNPP,” Santos said.
In a report, Russian Amb. said BNPP revival is not possible at all as the international safety standards are much higher than the standards on which it was built.
“That is the truth. That is the reality. Ambassador Igor Khovaev validates our position, our stand. We are right since then about BNPP, no point and no reason to rehabilitate since it was not functionable, was defective and dangerous,” he added.
