New partylists emerge in COC filing; groups include janitors, riders, utility helpers

At least 18 new and existing party-list and groups filed their certificate of nomination (CON) and certificate of acceptance of nomination during the first day of filing at the Commission on Elections (Comelec) office at the Palacio del Gobernador in Intramuros, Manila.
Former Laguna board member and celebrity Angelica Jones, Kabayan Party-list spokesperson who is reportedly seeking a senatorial position reiterated that she was only considering to run for a local post.

“Mukhang hindi pa napapanahon, local muna siya. Sana dumating na ang panahon na hinog na siya para pwede na siyang sumabak sa senado,” (Its not her time yet, she will stay in the local. I hope the time comes that she will be ready so that she can run in the senate), Kabayan’s first nominee re-electionist Ron Salo said.
Kabayan’s second nominee is Jay Abaya, and third nominee is re-electionist Paul Hernandez.
Partido Lakas ng Masa (PLM), a coalition consisting of Teacher’s Dignity Coalition, Sanlakas, Oriang and labor leaders claimed that they are the real party list.
They also warned against politicians using the party-list system to land a spot in Congress.
Party-list Ako Bisdak-Bisayang Dako (AB-BD), led by a retired Navy Rear Admiral Ernesto Marquez who claims to be a full-blooded Visayan, wanted to represent Visayas as a region.
“Nobody focuses in the Visayas region. We want Visayas to become one despite its many islands,” he said.
“I am proud to say that there were no politicians in our group. And I would like to consider ourselves as ordinary workers, not politicians,” he added.
Over 115 accredited party-lists were allowed to participate in the polls in the past elections wherein 46 of which are currently occupying seats in the House of Representative
New party-list
Several new party-list emerged during the filing.
Guardjan party list, which was not accredited during the previous filing, filed another the certificate of nomination for the May 2019 elections.
The party list was composed of janitors, riders, utility helpers and security guards.
One Unified Transport Alliance of the Philippines (1-UTAP) party-list Bicol chapter file their CoC led by Exequiel Longares, who said his group supports the transportation modernization in the country.
“We want more involvement in reviewing policies being introduced. They do not take into consideration our situation in the regions,” he said.
The new party-lists were Guardjans, Partidong Bayan ang Bida, Partidong Lakas ng Masa, AKO-Bisdak, ANAC IP, Laang Kawal ng Pilipinas, Sulong Dignidad Partylist, ABE Kapampangan, Pambansang Nagkakaisa sa Paggawa at Agrikultura, and 1-Unified Transport of the Philippines Bicol.
