WATER SUPPLY

LA TRINIDAD, Benguet (PNA) — The Department of Health (DOH) office here, the town that is as populous as the adjacent city of Baguio, has started to strictly inspect the standards of potable water in its communities. Municipal health officer Edna Francisco said many of the households are not yet served by the La Trinidad Water District (LTWD) because most communities are within the mountainous outskirts villages. Francisco said the La Trinidad Drinking Water Monitoring Committee is now regularly collecting water samples for laboratory analysis.

BRIGHT PROSPECT

LUCENA CITY (PNA) — Local officials are optimistic that Quezon will be the No. 1 province in the future not only in Calabarzon but in the country as well. Governor David C. Suarez noted that the greatest assets and more potent economic hedge of Quezon include its vast productive agricultural lands that can make it the bread basket of Calabarzon and Metro Manila. He added the well known vegetables of Baguio such as cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower and lettuce, are now also being harvested in Quezon and supplied in bulk to markets in Southern Tagalog and the National Capital Region (NCR).

BATAAN SUBSIDY

BALANGA CITY — The province of Bataan now has a total number of 12,633 households, bringing to 182,455 in Central Luzon, who have been enrolled under the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) after several local chief executives recently linked with the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) for the implementation of the project. The provincial government of Bataan headed by Governor Tet Garcia and 2nd District Representative Abet S. Garcia provided a considerable amount of money as subsidy to the provincial DSWD yearly, which is being used mostly for the purchase of medicines, and other needs of the indigent residents, among others. SPORTS ACTIVITY

CALAMBA CITY (PNA) — Mayor Joaquin Chipeco Jr. and the Sangguniang Panlungsod through the Cultural Affairs, Tourism, and Sports Development Department, launched on Monday the 4th Pansol Tourist Guides Association (PTGA) Cup for the Basketball League 2012 in Barangay Pansol here. Chipeco and Laguna Representative Justin Marc Chipeco spearheaded the sports development program among the tourist guides in a bid to bring unity, fitness, discipline, and sportsmanship through friendly sporting competitions among the tourism industry sector workers. The city government has recognized the contribution of some 200 Pansol tourist guides to the city tourism spring resort industry.

POLICE PROGRAM

LUCENA CITY, Quezon — A total of 47 grade school pupils successfully completed their special program on the “Pulis Ko, Titser Ko” project that was conducted by the Police-Community Relations Branch of the Quezon Police Provincial Office (QPPO) here. Police Chief Inspector Elmar Sillador, of the QPPO Public Information Office, said the Grade-4 pupils from the Ilayang Dupay Elementary School participated in the police program for several days. These pupils were taught of being a law abiding citizens and to be patriotic, Sillador said. The graduates received their certificates of completion, led by Rundel Maaño Camba, the first honor of the group. (Danny Estacio)
