PH sees 2nd lowest Covid-19 ADAR in Southeast Asia
The Philippines logged the second lowest Covid-19 average daily attack rate (ADAR) in Southeast Asia based on the OCTA Research group’s data on Thursday, March 24.
In a tweet, OCTA fellow Dr. Guido David presented the Covid-19 numbers in Southeast Asia and East Asia.
“East and Southeast Asia monitor. Philippines very low risk classification as of March 22 with an ADAR of 0.43,” said David.
ADAR pertains to the seven-day average number of new cases per 100,000 people according to the expert.
Among southeast asian countries, Timor-Leste recorded the lowest ADAR of 0.29. The Philippines ranked second with an ADAR of 0.43, followed by Cambodia and Myanmar which recorded 0.67 and 0.71 ADARs respectively.
These four countries are the only southeast asian territories under the “very low risk” classification of Covid-19, according to OCTA.
Indonesia, with its ADAR of 3.08, is under the “moderate risk” classification, while Laos is classified as “high risk” due to its 17.27 ADAR.
Thailand (35.32) and Malaysia (69.22) are under the “very high” risk classification while Singapore (172.02), Vietnam (262.12), and Brunei (333.28) are under the “severe” classification.
Meanwhile, among East Asian countries included in the OCTA’s report, only China (0.16) and Taiwan (0.41) are under the “very low risk” category, Japan (33.18) is under the “very high risk” classification, while Hong Kong (244.26) and South Korea (778.50) are still experiencing a “severe” Covid-19 outbreak.
