PILAR, Bataan — Big bike riders here are building an image far from the Hollywood depiction of big bad guys on motorbikes through their socio-civic, for which they have earned recognition from the Land Transportation Office (LTO). LTO-Bataan Registration Chief Ronald Dabu cited yesterday the Riders’ Support Group (RSG) and the Bataan United Riders’ Federation (BURF) for their volunteer services, particularly motorist and traffic assistance on holidays when the volume of traffic becomes extraordinarily heavy. RSG Chairman Erwin Sebastian said their tireless efforts have also gained praises from Chief Inspector Edwin Romero of the Highway Patrol Group because they also serve as force multipliers for security and order. NEW RECRUITS

CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga — A total of 201 new police recruits have joined the ranks of the Police Regional Office 3 (PRO3), taking their oath at this camp yesterday before Central Luzon police director, Chief Supt. Edgardo T. Ladao. Of the 201 new Police Officers 1 (PO1s), 170 are males and 31 are females. The new police recruits will now undergo one-year training at the Regional Training School 3 in Magalang, Pampanga, said Supt. Flynn Dongbo, chief of the Regional Police Personnel and Human Resource Development Division. (Franco G. Regala)

TEAM PANGASINAN MEDAL HOPES UP

LINGAYEN, Pangasinan — About 200 Pangasinense athletes will represent Team Pangasinan in the 2012 Batang Pinoy National Championship Games slated on December 5-9 in Iloilo City. Team Pangasinan is composed of the champion in the Batang Pinoy North-Luzon Leg, comprised of winning athletes from different school divisions in the province who set remarkable records and gold medal earners as well. CASE SOLVED

MULANAY, Quezon — The gunman believed responsible for the death of three Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) employees and the wounding of four more in Barangay 3, here, last week was arrested the other day, police said. Rommel S. Rocete, a former Taekwando instructor at the Regional Training School of the Philippine National Police in Camp Nakar, Lucena City, was arrested on the same day Quezon Governor David C. Suarez offered a P200,000 bounty for his arrest. Rocete yielded a .45-caliber pistol believed used in shooting fatalities Ronald Monterey, 28; Jason Rodelas, 23; Celso Red, 28, and wounded victims  Zaldy Prado, 22; Leovino De Galicia, 44; Abraham Almero, 42 and Menardo Abella, 22 – all employees of the DPWH-Quezon 3rd District Engineering Office – for no apparent reason last Friday. ANGELES CITY — Various sectoral groups have congratulated Mayor Edgardo Pamintuan for being voted one of the Most Outstanding Mayors of 2012 by Superbrands Marketing International (SMI), a respected global organization. Pamintuan received the “Most Outstanding Mayor Award” from SMI during formal ceremonies held on November 28 in Makati City, along with fellow recipients of the award – Mayors Jeannie Barzaga of Dasmariñas City; Benjie Lim of Dagupan City; Alfredo Lim of Manila; Marilyn Naguiat of Biñan; Maynard Sabili of Lipa City; and Jonathan Tan of Pandan.
