ADDITIONAL ECOLA 

BACOLOD CITY, Negros Occidental (PIA) — Public school teachers here have something to look forward to early next year with the adding of P500 to their emergency cost of living allowance (ECOLA) in January, 2013. The teachers currently receive P1,500 ECOLA monthly. Addressing nearly 3,000 public elementary and high-school teachers at the Bacolod City Government Center during the recent 61st Teachers’ Day celebration, Mayor Evelio Leonardia said, “In 2013, we will again increase your ECOLA by P500 to make it P2,000 a month, an amount which will double the ECOLA you were receiving in 2004.
