C.S.C. REMINDER
PALO, Leyte — The Civil Service Commission (CSC) reminds government officials and employees not to accept gifts in exchange for performing their duties, especially from clients, suppliers and contractors with whom they are facilitating business. CSC Region 8 Director, Atty. Marilyn Taldo said that the reminder came from CSC Chairman Francisco T. Duque III who said that gifts may be construed as a bribe or reward in exchange for a favor or better treatment. Serving the public is civil servants’ duty and must be performed in the best possible way without expecting anything in return, Director Taldo said. (PIA)

ILOILO CITY, Iloilo — A revamp of three police chiefs in Western Visayas may happen before the year ends. “There may be a change in leadership soon,” said Chief Supt. Agrimero Cruz Jr., director of Police Regional Office (PRO-6). Cruz explained that included in the possible revamp are those who have served the maximum of two years or in acting capacity. Among those who are facing possible revamp are Sr. Supt. Marietto Valerio of Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO), Senior Supt. Gil Lebin of Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO), Supt. Marloe Marfil of Antique Police Provincial Office (APPO).
GEO-HAZARD ASSESSMENT
DUMAGUETE CITY, Negros Oriental — To provide a more comprehensive data on geo-hazard mapping, the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) 7 through the Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) 7 has already completed the assessment of at least 12 local government units (LGU) in Central Visayas using the scale of 10:10,000. MGB7 Regional Director Loreto B. Alburo said
the 10:10,000-scale provides a more detailed information than that of the previous assessment using the 10:50,000-scale as it now includes better parameters or features in the area that may affect ground stability and the type of landslides that can possibly occur in the area. TEST CENTERS
ILOILO CITY — The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) has identified the cities of Iloilo and Bacolod as testing centers for the Foreign Service Officer (FSO) qualifying test on March 10, 2013. The FSO qualifying test is one of the five parts of the FSO examinations to be conducted this year to recruit candidates for appointment to the position of FSO, Class IV. The qualifying test will also be conducted in other testing centers as follows: Baguio City, Cagayan de Oro City, Cebu City, Davao City, General Santos City, Legazpi City, Lucena City, Metro Manila, San Fernando City (La Union), San Fernando City (Pampanga), Tacloban City and Zamboanga City. P7-M PROJECTS
NEGROS OCCIDENTAL — The provincial government has distributed checks worth P7 million to eight barangays in the Municipality of Hinigaran and thirteen barangays in Binalbagan. The recipient barangays in Hinigaran were Bato, Gargato, Miranda, Narauis, Nanunga, Zone II, Zone III, and Zone IV (Poblacion). Each of the barangays received P250,000 for projects such as construction of day care center, purchase of multi-purpose vehicles, rehabilitation of stage and multi-purpose hall, construction of basketball court, rehabilitation of barangay health center, and construction of rip-rapped drainage canal.
