‘NEGO KARTS’
CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga — Some 42 vegetable farmers here received “Nego Karts” from the Department of Labor and Employment (Dole) and the Butil Farmers Partylist as part of their “Gulayan sa Barangay” program in Pampanga. The carts are part of the 100 “Nego Karts” to be distributed to indigent beneficiaries as part of the efforts to uplift the living conditions of poor farmers in the province. “This is an initiative to assist the farmers to sell their produce and other by-products from their farms by providing them with greater mobility,” Butil Representative Agapito Guanlao said. Guanlao said the carts will bring in more income to indigent beneficiaries here. (Mark Anthony N. Manuel)

ROSA CITY, Laguna — City Mayor Arlene Arcillas and 500 other new members of the Laguna Criminal Investigation and Detection Group-Community Investigative Support (CIDG-CIS) took their oath at the city plaza during a Christmas party celebration last Saturday night. Director Samuel Pagidlao Jr., CIDG director, led the oath-taking ceremony for the new CIS members of the province includes Arcillas, businessmen, retired police officers, barangay officials, among others. Pagdilao along with Senior Supt. Bernabe Balba, ICDG 4-A director, and Chief Inspector Orlando Castil, Laguna CIDG chief gave the lady mayor a memento of police symbol of authority include badge, handcuff, and a 9mm pistol for her invaluable support to the PNP-CIDG. CAMP GARCIA, Cavite — The Cavite Police Provincial Office (PPO) will hold the traditional gun sealing on December 29 to remind and prevent officers and men, as well as civilians, from firing their firearms on or before the New Year’s revelry. Director Samuel D. Pagdilao Jr., chief of Philippine National Police-Criminal Investigation and Detection Group, is also set to visit this camp during the day as part of what officers called “sentimental journey” of the beloved General in the area. The gun taping will also be done simultaneously at police stations of the province’s six cities and 17 municipalities during the hour with the chiefs of police (CoPs) leading the action. LINGAYEN, Pangasinan — Governor Amado T. Espino, Jr. has tapped a pool of prominent lawyers to take care of his defense as he showed his fighting form over the weekend against what he termed as “political attacks.” “Even a Grade 1 pupil could discern that everything is politically-motivated,” Espino said amid allegations that he took multi-million cuts from the operation of jueteng in the province. While he had earlier accused his Liberal Party (LP) opponents behind the charges, Espino pledged his support to the ruling coalition of President Aquino who is the leader of the LP. CAMP FLORENDO, La Union — Senior Superintendent Mariano Luis M. Verzosa Jr., former Officer in Charge (OIC) of the Pangasinan Police Provincial Office (PPO), led the recent groundbreaking ceremony for the PNP Retirees Building as well as the unveiling of the marker of the Camp Drainage System. He also graced the groundbreaking ceremony of the construction for the new Municipal Police Station in Banna, Ilocos Norte which was led by Mayor Carlito N. Abadilla.
