ILOILO CITY, Iloilo (PIA) – Nearly 800 public school teachers from all Western Visayas divisions are set to take the National Qualifying Examinations for School Heads (NQESH) on January 20, 2013. Department of Education 6 (Dep-Ed 6) Regional Testing Coordinator Dr. Donato Delgado said the NQESH schedule has been moved twice. “The exam’s original schedule was November 11, 2012; it was moved to January 6, 2013 but the National Educators Academy of the Philippines (NEAP) advised that it be moved again to January 20, 2013 because test materials and answer sheets reproduction can’t be done in time for the January 6, 2013 schedule,” Delgado said. The Iloilo City NQESH test center will be at the Iloilo National High School.

ROXAS CITY, Capiz (PIA) - The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) in Capiz recently gave recognition to offices and institutions supportive of its fire fighting campaign, at the Roxas City Fire Station. The activity marked the 39th Fire Service Recognition (FSR) Day. The event included a motorcade, thanksgiving mass, and program highlighted by the awarding ceremony. Outstanding firemen in the province were recognized while, earlier, a fire Olympics among firemen from the different local fire stations in Capiz was held. The FSR serves as a tool to distinguish the worthy contributions of firefighters in the community not just in fire suppression but also in emergency and rescue operations.
FEEDING PROGRAM
CEBU CITY, Cebu – The Cebu Peoples's Multipurpose Cooperative (CPMPC) held in the past nine days a feeding program and gift giving to indigent street kids. Said CPMPC chief executive officer Macario Quevedo, “We started last December 16 along with the start of the annual Simbang Gabi mass novena, and we hired a carriage-riding Santa to distribute the gifts.” Quevedo said 2012 was a productive year for the cooperative, thus, “we just want to give back the blessings we had to the community.” The CPMPC has over 28,000 active members in some 12 branches. TAGBILARAN CITY, Bohol (PIA) - The Bohol Provincial Police Office (BPPO) reported that for November 2012, there were 77 less crimes in Bohol compared to the same period last year, a record that reflects the continuing decrease of crimes in the province this year. At the recent Provincial Peace and Order Council (PPOC) meeting recently, Bohol Police chief Senior Superintendent Constantino Barot said of crimes reported in November, theft comprised the highest index crime committed at 37.39 percent of total crimes in the province followed by robber at 26.27 percent, then physical with 6.17 percent.
4PS AGREEMENT
MAASIN CITY, Southern Leyte (PIA) - The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Regional Office -8 recently signed a memorandum of agreement with World Vision Foundation, Inc. at the Asia Stars Hotel in Tacloban City to establish a partnership in implementing the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program. Maasin City 4P coordinator Zara Edjoc reported that the MOA signing seeks to collaborate with one another basing on the DSWD and World Vision’s mandates and capacities. A Christian, child-focused, relief, development and advocacy organization, World Vision agreed to collaborate and facilitate projects and facilities on DSWD’s anti-poverty programs named “Kaagapay” including Family Development Sessions; mentoring of parent-leaders through spiritual nurturing and value formation, and conducting anti-corruption activities under the “Bantay” project.
