In a decision written by Justice Noel G. Tijam, the SC reversed the Feb. 2, 2017 ruling of the Court of Appeals (CA) which found L. C. Big Mark Burger guilty of direct contempt and ordered it to pay P30,000 in damages.
With the ruling, the SC reinstated the April 7, 2014 decision of the Makati City regional trial court (RTC) which dismissed the contempt case filed by McDonald’s and ordered it to pay L.C. Big Mak Burger P1.2 million in moral and exemplary damages.
