The Armed Forces of the Philippines-Northern Luzon Command (AFP-NOLCOM) announced yesterday the surrender of five more members of the “Milisyang Bayan” or MB (People’s Militia) of the New People’s Army (NPA) in Nueva Vizcaya.
Lt. Col. Isagani Nato, NOLCOM spokesman, said the surrender took place last Monday at 10 a.m. in Barangay Ammoweg in Ambaguio municipality.
Nato identified the surrenderers as Walter T. Pulido, Pio P. Kaila, Mario U. Humakey, Delfin U. Domingo, and Fredie Q. Dulnuan.
He said their surrender was made possible through the joint negotiations of local officials and the Landing Patrol Base of the army’s 77th Infantry Battalion (77IB) and the Ambaguio Municipal Police Station (MPS).
He said more and more rebels have been encouraged to return to the fold of the law and live freely from the bondage of armed struggle.
