Swedish House Mafia’s Philippine Debut Kicks Off 2013 Concert Season

The 2013 Manila concert season featuring foreign singers and artists will kick off with a rousing performance of Swedish House Mafia, the biggest headlining DJ act in the world. Acclaimed for its powerful sledge hammer beats and spectacular laser and pyrotechnics production, it will make its Manila debut on Jan. 16 at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.
According to Ovation Productions, the one-night-only musical event dubbed “One Last Tour” is considered significant and memorable since it is a major stop in the Southeast Asian leg of the Swedish electronic dance supergroup’s ongoing world tour, its final performance together before going on a break.
Since forming in 2008 in Stockholm, Sweden by house disc jockeys and producers Axwell, Steve Angello, and Sebastian Ingrasso, Swedish House Mafia has taken the world by storm. On Nov. 26, 2010, its official debut single “One (Your Name),” was released on online music store Beatport, and was met with international success after charting at No. 7 in the UK Singles Chart.
This was followed by “Miami 2 Ibiza,” featuring Tinie Tempah, which landed at No. 4 in the UK chart in Sept. 2010.
On June 24, 2012, Swedish House Mafia jolted its legions of fans and followers when it announced on its website that the final leg of its 2012 world tour would be its last before going on a hiatus.
The tour’s ultimate segment kicked off last November in Stockholm and will conclude March 2013.
The group will also make a final appearance at the Ultra Music Festival, an annual electronic music fest, in Miami, Florida, with an opening and closing act slated on March 15 and 24, respectively.
(“One Last Tour” is made possible by Ovation Productions and Republiq. It is presented by Smart and also brought to you by Absolut Vodka, Xperia Sony Smartphone, World Wide Womb and Driven, with Manila Bulletin among the media partners. Tickets are priced at P7,920, P5,810, P4,760 and are available at all SM Tickets outlets or by logging on to www.smtickets.com.)
