Integrated Bar of the Philippines (MANILA BULLETIN)
“The Integrated Bar of the Philippines is saddened by and condemns the murder of Atty. Val Crisostomo of IBP Pangasinan Chapter and Atty. Adilberto Golla of IBP Manila IV Chapter,” read a statement from IBP Executive Vice President and President-elect Domingo Egon Cayosa.
“Nakikiramay po kami sa kanilang mga pamilya at mahal sa buhay (We condole with their families and loved ones),” he stated.
Crisostomo was killed by unidentified motorcycle-riding gunmen in front of the Hall of Justice of Manaoag, Pangasinan Friday morning.
Golla was gunned down also Friday morning near his home at Eastwood Greenview Subdivision in Barangay San Isidro in Montalban, Rizal.
Meanwhile, Cayosa has expressed the IBP’s willingness to “cooperate with the authorities to determine and apprehend their killers and make them accountable.”
“These reprehensible incidents are symptoms of weaknesses in our justice system,” he lamented.
Because of this, Cayosa called on all lawyers “to work for a faster and better justice system so that people need not resort to violence to settle differences.”
“Violence, regardless of the victim, is a derogation of the rule of law,” he stressed.
