PUERTO PRINCESA CITY — Palawan Governor Baham Mitra led the turnover of the sea ambulance that will benefit the constituents in the towns of Coron, Busuanga, and Culion. Together with Board Member Rolando Bonoan Jr., Mitra turned over the sea ambulance to Culion Municipal Health Officer Dr. Allan Gintapan and the acting head of the inter-health zones of the area in a simple ceremony held in Coron on January 6. Meanwhile, Mitra also distributed PhilHealth cards to the volunteers who helped in serving the provincial government as well as the less fortunate villagers and village officials. (Ferdinand Castro)
ONE-STOP SHOP
CAUAYAN CITY (PNA) — The city government here has activated the “one-stop shop” process at the City Hall for an easy and speedy application and renewal of business permits and licenses. The agencies at the “one-stop shop” inside the City Hall are the Social Security System (SSS), Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth), Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), and other government offices. Lawyer Sherwin De Luna, permit and licensing office chief, said the process started during the first week of January as business permits and licenses are required to be renewed. The “one-stop shop” operates daily even at noon time and during Saturdays and Sundays until January 20, this year.

LEGAZPI CITY (PNA) – The provincial government of Albay and the Manila Observatory of the Ateneo de Manila University will again join hands in producing a sustainable development guidebook for the three flood- and landslide-prone areas in the province. Albay Governor Joey Salceda said they also plan to commission Kevin Rodolfo, one of the country’s top geologists and volcanologists, to prepare a sustainable development handbook and investment guide for the three flood- and landslide-prone towns in the province. Salceda said the study, dubbed “Oas Graben,” will involve the interaction of climate change risks with geological hazards in the flood-prone communities.

LUCENA CITY — Thousands of future cyberspace specialists will convene on January 25 and 26 to attend the 5th Provincial Information Technology Seminar organized by Sacred Heart College Computer Science students at the school’s gymnasium in this city. Event promotions chairperson Dyan Artrea Lloren-Estacio, a 3rd year Bachelor of Science in Computer Science (BSCS) student, said that the seminar’s theme is “Connecting Lives through Organizing and Unifying IT Developments.” The annual cyberspace seminar where some information technology experts will stand as resources speakers, will discuss the latest computer operating system and applications. ELDERS’ WELFARE
SAN PABLO CITY (PNA) — City Councilor Alejandro “Abi” Yu has recently turned over close to a hundred units of the Omron nebulizers to be administered to the elderly with asthma or related respiratory disorders in the city’s 54 village councils and senior citizens groups. Yu spearheaded the “Breath of Fresh Air” project of the Organization of the Glorious and Valiant Soldiers of Charity (OGVSC) Foundation, which he heads in cooperation with the Association of Fil-Am Freemasons in Illinois (AFI), United States. During the turnover ceremony, village leaders and heads of senior citizens associations in the villages received the Omron nebulizers.
