The police officer said she lost her service firearm, a Glock 17-9mm pistol, after her house in Tondo, Manila was robbed on her birthday, December 10.
"A man forcibly opened the door. I was sleeping that time and my service firearm was placed in the kitchen," the cop, who refused to give her name, recalled.
In an interview, the female cop who is assigned at the MPD-Police Station 2, went to the Caloocan police after learning about a shootout between two neighbors in Bgy. 35, Maypajoa that ended with stray bullets hitting Joven Earl Gaces, 10, a Grade 5 student and his friend Princess Denise Cruzat, 10, who is in Grade 4.
Gaces is now in critical condition at Jose Reyes Memorial Medical Center after a bullet hit his shoulder and pierced his stomach. Cruzat is now in stable condition after she underwent surgery at Tondo Medical Center.
The suspect identified as Isagani Ancheta, a 38-year-old Divisoria vendor, was arrested after being cornered and mauled by the residents.
His opponent, Gil Galapuz, 27, was also brought to JRRMC after sustaining gunshot and stab wounds.
The firearm seized from Ancheta was allegedly the missing service pistol of the cop.
Ancheta earlier claimed that he just borrowed the gun from a certain "Joel," a resident of Tondo, Manila.
The serial number of the policewoman's lost firearm matched the serial number inside the barrel of Ancheta's gun, police said.
Sr. Supt. Jemar Modequillo, Caloocan Police chief, said further examinations will be done to verify the claim.
"It will be presented to the PNP Crime Laboratory for matching," Modequillo said.
