Visayas and Mindanao can expect an improvement in weather conditions this weekend, as the low-pressure area (LPA) has moved outside the country's area of responsibility on Saturday.

PAGASA weather specialist Meno Mendoza said the northeast monsoon or "amihan" will be the prevailing weather system across Luzon, while localized thunderstorms will likely affect Visayas and Mindanao this weekend.
The "amihan" could bring scattered rains over Metro Manila, Batanes, Cagayan, Isabela, Nueva Vizcaya, Quirino, Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon, Albay, Catanduanes, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Sorsogon, Masbate, Aurora, Nueva Ecija, Bulacan, Marinduque, Romblon, Oriental Mindoro, and Occidental Mindoro.
Mendoza advised the public to take precautions against possible flash floods or landslides due to scattered moderate to at times heavy monsoon rains.
The rest of Luzon will have cloudy skies with light "amihan" rains.
Meanwhile, Visayas and Mindanao may experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers from localized thunderstorms.
Mendoza said the occurrence of severe thunderstorms could trigger possible flash floods or landslides in these areas.
He noted that a gale warning remains in effect on Saturday due to rough to very rough seas triggered by the surge of "amihan."
Fishing boats and small sea crafts were advised not to set sail into the northern, eastern, and western coasts of Northern Luzon, and eastern seaboards of Central Luzon.
Meanwhile, larger sea vessels should remain alert against big waves.
