The medicines that were distributed include antibiotics and paracetamol, among others, Duque said during a radio interview on Saturday.
Duque added that they are expecting an increase in cases of various illnesses such as hypertension, fever, diarrhea, and acute respiratory infection in the affected areas. He assured that they are ready to treat these cases.
The health chief said that the damage on the health infrastructure in the typhoon- hit areas is ‘very light’ based on their initial assessment. On their preliminary analysis, the cost of damage is about P1.5 to P2 million, he said.
"Sa aspeto ng kalusugan sa preliminary report ay mukhang very light yung pinsala na naging dulot ng typhoon Rosita... Yung pinadala sa akin na regional disaster and assessment and needs analysis ay umabot ng P1.5 to P2 million worth of pesos yung damage,” said Duque.
"Hindi naman sya ganun kabigat sa health system/ sa health infra pero syempre hindi pa tapos yung assessment," he added.
Duque said that they are still assessing the total cost of damage on the health infrastructure in the typhoon-hit areas in coordination with the Office of Civil Defense, Department of Interior and Local Government, and the local government units.
