Minante Bridge was a two-lane bridge located along Daang Maharlika in Cauayan, Isabela. With the widening works, it is now a four-lane bridge.
According to DPWH-Region 2 director Melanio Briosos, the widening project costs P32.73 million. He said that with its completion, the bridge can now accommodate a larger number of motorists going to and from Cauayan’s own Rizal Park and Cauayan Airport.
Meanwhile, widening of three more bridges in the region is ongoing, Briosos said.
The department, the director said, is also undertaking the widening of P26.74-million Burgos Bridge along Daang Maharlika, in Barangay Burgos, Municipality of Alicia, Isabela which is expected to finish before the end of 2018.
Further, in Quirino Province, the construction of Decuraban Bridge Nos. 4 and 5, with a total budget allocation of P60 million, is also underway.
Upon completion, the two bridges traversing Cordon-Aurora Road (Junction Dumabato-Aurora Boundary) is expected to enhance the delivery of basic services in the area and serve as a link to the Province of Aurora in Region 3, Briosos said.
The construction of the bridges, Briosos added, is part of the department’s program in improving national bridges and linking rural communities to commercial areas to provide better livelihood opportunities for the locals.
