Tricycle driver shot dead
A tricycle driver was slain by an unidentified assailant in Barangay 177, Caloocan City on Saturday evening.
Police identified the victim as Ernesto Osorio, 60, resident of the area.
A witness who police identified as Jane Eslopor said she was resting inside her house at about 10:45 p.m. when she heard a gunshot outside.
Upon peeking, she saw the lifeless body of the victim lying inside his tricycle and drenched in his own blood.
The witness reported the incident to barangay officials who later alerted the police.
Recovered from the crime scene was a fired cartridge case of unknown caliber.
The motive behind the killing is still unknown, police said.
The victim's body was brought to Jara Funeral Service for autopsy examination.

Dismissed police officer, man included in drug watchlist nabbed in buy-bust
A dismissed police officer and a man included in the drug watch-list were arrested in a buy-bust operation by anti-narcotics operatives in Pateros on Saturday.
Police arrested Alexander Pili, former Police Officer 1 previously assigned to the District Accounting and Holding Unit (DAHU) of the Manila Police District (MPD). He was arrested along with Michael Pili, a known drug personality in the area.
According to police records, Alexander was dismissed from the service for two counts of serious neglect of duty for 24 days of intermittent absences in February 2015 and 30 days of continuous absences in March 2015, respectively.
Investigation showed that the operation was conducted at around 3:10 p.m, at Lt. Tiamsic Street, Barangay Tabacalera, Pateros.
Police said the suspects were caught red handed in the said area after an undercover operative was able to purchase P500 worth of illegal drugs.
Recovered from them were three transparent plastic sachets with suspected shabu.
The suspects are temporarily detained at the custodial facility of the Pateros Municipal Police Station while drug charges are being readied against them. (Dhel Nazario)
