Another Star-Studded Kapuso Sinulog Festival

CEBU CITY – The Kapuso Network made its presence strongly felt once more at the 2013 Sinulog Festival of this city by bringing in some of its biggest stars to participate in the annual celebration in honor of the revered Sto. Niño (Child Jesus). Among the Kapuso stars who flew to this Queen City of the South were Sen. Bong Revilla, Jennylyn Mercado, Rhian Ramos, Alden Richards and Ehra Madrigal (lead stars of the newly aired but already top rating “Indio”); Marian Rivera, Dennis Trillo, Glaiza de Castro, Rafael Rosell, Michelle Madrigal and Bettina Carlos (lead stars of the top rating drama series “Temptation of Wife”), Dingdong Dantes, Lorna Tolentino, Kristoffer Martin and Max Collins (stars of “Pahiram ng Sandali”), Barbie Forteza (“Paroa: Ang Kuwento ni Mariposa”), and Isabel Oli (“Forever”).
At the Kapuso Night @ Ayala Terraces Cebu last Friday night (Jan. 18), Marian, Dennis, Glaiza, Rafael, Michelle, and Betina thanked their Cebuano fans for consistently supporting their show “Temptation of Wife.” It was a night we would never forget because we (the entertainment press from Manila who were seated in the front row) were almost crashed to the ground by the screaming wild fans who tried to catch the jacket that Rafael threw to the audience.
Anyway, Dennis said he’s happy with the way viewers are responding to their roles in “Temptation of Wife,” especially to his and Glaiza’s love scenes. In the series, Dennis plays Marcel, a weak son to Raymond Bagatsing’s character, and husband to Angeline (Marian) but who fell heavily for Haydee (Glaiza). Now that Dennis is “loveless” as he claims, is there a chance that he and Glaiza could become a romantic item?
“No, trabaho lang,” Dennis said, and he went on to describe Glaiza as “seryoso siya, tahimik lang sa isang sulok pero ’pag in front of the cameras na, she becomes very intense sa acting niya.”
Glaiza said her kontrabida role in “Temptation of Wife” is her most challenging to date. Her acting career is definitely getting on a higher level with every project she is given but she will always be a singer that is why when she has free time, she accepts gigs. She looks forward to doing another album, and hopefully it will feature some of her compositions. Yes, she has written songs and sometimes she sings some of these in her gigs.
Marian, like Glaiza, is also riding high on the rave reviews from viewers who sympathized with her role as the martyr and suffering wife Angeline and who are now rejoicing that she is exacting revenge from Marcel and family. Marian was consistent in her portrayal as Angeline and now as Chantal, she is completely on the reverse. She has successfully showcased her versatility as an actress in the series.
Marian, by the way, is doing a movie with Ai Ai delas Alas and she is really excited about this. “Nakapag-shooting na kami ng tatlong araw,” she said. In the meantime, she is basking in the success of her first sexy pictorial for FHM magazine. Reportedly, there has been several reprints but still the clamor for more copies has not stopped. And so, to show her gratefulness, Marian had an autograph-signing session for fans last Sunday at Robinsons Galleria.

A ‘B’ For ‘Menor De Edad’
“Menor De Edad,” the launching movie of acting neophyte Meg Imperial, got a “B” from the Cinema Evaluation Board (CEB) for its moving story of a girl’s coming of age. The Viva Films’ newest erotic drama is directed by multi-awarded director Joel Lamangan.
“Menor De Edad” had its red carpet premiere a week ago, and is set to start its playdate today, Jan. 23, in cinemas nationwide. The movie launches Meg, who turned 20 last Jan. 20, to sexy stardom. She is a Viva Artist Agency talent who will soon sign a contract with ABS-CBN.
Although Meg has appeared in a number of TV5 shows like “Bagets,” “Lokomoko U,” “Pidol’s Wonderland,” “Game And Go,” “Maynila” and “Just Got Lucky,” “Menor De Edad” is her biggest role to date. It’s a bold and daring role but if Meg did all those sexy scenes it’s because “I have trust and faith in the director, Joel Lamangan, and of course to Viva Films and Viva Artist Agency. Alam ko ’di nila ako pababayaan at anuman ang ipapagawa nila sa akin ay para sa kabutihan ng career ko.”
In “Menor De Edad,” Meg plays Jen Guilarman, a 15-year-old high school student who catches the attention of her Pilipino teacher Ariel Basco (played by Wendell Ramos). Jen lives in a tenement housing building with her mom (Ara Mina) and her lesbian live-in partner played by Jaycee Parker.
