LTFRB deploys buses for passengers affected by LRT-1 mechanical, track repairs

The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) has started deploying buses that will transport commuters who were affected by the suspension of operations in some of the stations of the Light Rail Transit-1.

LTFRB chairman Teofilo Guadiz III said at least five buses were deployed as part of the bus augmentation that allowed passenger buses plying the Malanday – Ayala via McArthur Highway, Rizal Avenue, Taft Avenue, at Gil Puyat (Buendia) Avenue to extend their route to EDSA-Heritage Hotel-Taft.

“This bus augmentation will be effective until such time that the LRT operations are normalized,” said Guadiz. 

The LRT-1 announced on Thursday, Aug. 24, that its operation will be limited from Gil Puyat (Buendia) station to FPJ Station (Roosevelt Station) due to mechanical and track issues.

Guadiz said the bus augmentation is the solution to the LRT passengers from Buendia to Baclaran and vice versa.

He said the LTFRB is now coordinating with the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) and the Pasay City local government unit to facilitate the bus augmentation.
