13 women rescued in Antipolo

By Nel Andrade ANTIPOLO CITY- Thirteen women, including 11 minors were rescued by the police from an alleged prostitution ring operated by a local resident following an entrapment operation Wednesday night here. Supt. Villaflor Bannawagan, Antipolo City chief of police, said Louie Albert Isla, was collared right after an undercover operative finalized a deal with the 33-year old suspect for the services of a young woman. The police said the entrapment operation led to the rescue of the victims at Hallies Bar and Grill located at Sumulong Memorial Circle in San Roque in this city at around 9 p.m. Social workers and female police officers who joined the operation reported that all except two of the rescued women are minors. It was gathered that most of the victims are either students or school dropouts who usually stay in the suspect’s residence while waiting for clients at the bar. Bannawagan said the police operation was coordinated with the city social welfare office after the police station received a complaint from the suspect’s neighbors regarding his illegal activity. Isla is now in police custody and will be charged with violation of the Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act.
