By Erma Edera Amid the scorching heat of the sun at the Supreme Court grounds, bar takers along with their families and friends burst into tears and jump for joy during the announcement of the results of the 2018 Bar examinations on Friday. (Erma Edera / MANILA BULLETIN) Even if the results will be posted online, some of them travelled for hours just to personally check if their names are on the passers list. Couple Johanna Malang, 26 and Jose Epifanio San Jose, 28, who are both victorious in passing this year's bar exams, travelled from Naga City, Camarines Sur to Manila. "We left Naga at around 8:00 a.m. Straight from the terminal, we brought our baggage here at SC. We are very happy that we will be going back to Naga as lawyers, " San Jose said in an interview. They are first takers and both graduated from University of Nueva Caceres in Naga. "We hope to land a job in the government as lawyers," they said. On the other hand, a proud sister, Jessamyn Maban, cried and hugged her brother Jethro Maban after learning that he passed the exam after his second take. "Our parents' hardwork paid off! You made it," Jessamyn told her brother amid tears. "I dedicate this to my parents who are overseas Filipino workers in Korea for more than ten years," Jethro said. The family of bar passer Leandro Mari Manabat, 25 had a tarpaulin made for him, a day before the announcement of 2018 bar exam results. "Expected talaga namin na papasa siya, kaya nagpagawa na kami agad ng tarpaulin," (We expected that he will pass, so we had a tarpaulin made for him)," Leandro's father said. Leandro said there were times that he wanted to give up but his passion to be a lawyer drove him to pursue his dream. "This is what I really wanted to do. This is what makes me feel alive. For bar takers, hardwork is the key. Always remember there is no shortcut to success. You really have to put in the hours, so never ever resort to shortcut methods," he said.
