After placing its command on red alert status, the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) on Sunday reported no untoward incident in its jail facilities during the Holy Week break.

(BJMP / MANILA BULLETIN) With this pronouncement, BJMP head Jail Chief Superintendent Allan Iral congratulated his men during his Easter Sunday celebration greetings to BJMP personnel. Iral commended all the teams led by key officials from the National Headquarters including the Regional Directors who skipped the holiday to inspect jails and monitor the PDL situations. “Nagpapasalamat ako sa inyong lahat sa inyong kooperasyon at pakikiisa upang siguruhing walang anumang insidente ngayong Mahal na Araw. Maraming salamat sa inyong sakripisyo at sa ipinakita niyong dedikasyon sa trabaho (I would like to thank you all for your cooperation and support that ensure the safety of the jails this Lenten Season. Thank you for your sacrifices and your dedication in the performance of your duties),’’ said Iral. In further commending his men, Iral said any leader will be proud of his colleagues for exhibiting the ultimate sacrifice of preserving law and order inside the BJMP run jails. Imposing the no holiday and no day-off during the Lenten season, Iral led BJMP National Capital Region Director Jail Chief Superintendent Ignacio Panti and BJMP CALABARZON Regional Director Jail Chief Superintendent Efren Nemeño in inspecting the jails in their respective areas during the simultaneous inspection of jails after the full alert status kicked-off on Maundy Thursday. In BJMP Region 7, Jail Chief Superintendent Paulino H Moreno Jr conducted not only an inspection but also drug testing of Dumaguete City Jail Male and Female Dormitory personnel while BJMP Region V Director Jail Senior Superintendent Cesar Langawin “pedaled’’ for the region’s 2ndBJMP Region V Bisikleta Iglesia where cycling enthusiasts rode their bicycles for a visit to different churches in Bicol. Iral also made special mention of the jail non-officers who satisfactorily took the frontline services especially those who were posted as gate personnel who managed the influx of visitors. “All of us were tasked by DILG Secretary Eduardo Año to be vigilant this holiday to prevent any untoward incidents and I’m grateful that all of you did a great job in guarding our gates”, Iral emphasized. Iral also expressed his gratitude to the efforts extended by the Regional Directors in leading their respective regions for a zero incident Holy Week this year.
