VALENTINE WEDDING
TANAY, Rizal — Some 100 couples exchanged “I dos” at yesterday’s Valentine’s Day civil wedding ceremony organized by the municipal government and the Pag-Ibig Fund. Mayor Rafael “Lito” Tanjuatco officiated the wedding that gathered the residents of this agriculture-rich scenery town of the province at the Tanay gymnasium on Barangay Kat Bayani. Among those who exchanged wedding vows are couple Francisco B. Torres and his long time partner, Rosita F. Tombon. They are the most senior, at their age of 65, among those who promised to keep their relationship together for richer or for poorer and in sickness and in health. Joicee Gapido, spokesperson of the municipal government said the fees related to the wedding of the 100 couples have been waived as part of the municipal government’s gift to the newly wed couples. SENIORS’ INCENTIVES
TAGAYTAY CITY, Cavite — The Sangguniang Panglungsod (Local Council) has unanimously approved an ordinance which will render additional benefits for the city’s senior citizen residents. Mayor Bambol Tolentino signed the four-page ordinance that was passed by Vice Mayor Celso P. de Castro and the 12 Sanggunian members during their 120th regular session. The new ordinance will provide a yearly P3,000 incentive for senior citizens or residents who are 60 years old and above and free room on confinement at Ospital ng Tagaytay (Tagaytay Hospital). The benefit provision was contained in City Ordinance 2013-115 or the decree establishing the “Benipisyo ng Tagaytay (BNT) para sa Senior Citizens” (Benefit of Tagaytay for Senior Citizens’) Program and for Other Purposes.” (Anthony Giron)
