GMA Launches ‘Dapat Tama’ Theme Song
In line with its advocacy campaign for the upcoming mid-term elections, GMA News and Public Affairs launched recently its anthem “Dapat Tama,” performed by rapper Gloc-9 and his protégé, Denise Barbacena.
First aired on GMA’s flagship primetime newscast “24 Oras” last Feb. 11, the “Dapat Tama” anthem and music video both stemmed from the collaborative efforts of GMA News and Public Affairs’ Dapat Tama team and Gloc-9 himself. The anthem is conceptualized to help the voting public discern what is wrong from what is right in the country’s electoral system. It further stresses the fact that doing what is wrong during the elections has long lasting repercussions that could affect the generations to come.
Hours before the launch of the anthem, the hashtag #DapatTama became the number two trending topic in the Philippines over the micro-blogging site Twitter.
“Para kasi sa akin, socially responsible ako sa mga desisyon na may kinalaman sa bansa, sa ating mga kababayan. Kaya naman kahit sa pamamagitan ng musika, sa mga bagay na kaya kong gawin, gusto kong makapag-contribute sa bayan,” shares Gloc-9, one of the many celebrities who helped to make the hashtag #MalingMali, also a part of GMA’s election advocacy campaign, trend on Twitter on Nov. 29 of last year.
Through the anthem, the Network aims to encourage not only the voters, but the candidates as well, to take a stand and choose to do what is morally right.
