LWUA Sets 3-Day Water Caravan
The Local Water Utilities Administration (LWUA) with the participation of the country’s numerous water districts and of support of various local government units as well as other interested groups is holding a simultaneous nationwide Water Caravan on March 19-21, 2013 in celebration of the World Water Day that carries the global theme, “ Water Partnership.”
LWUA Administrator Eduardo C. Santos said that aside from helping create wider public awareness on the annual World Water Day celebration and the importance of water as a finite natural resource that needs proper use and conservation, the Water Caravan also aims to highlight the cooperation among the various water stakeholders in the country towards attaining water supply sustainability to meet the challenges of continuous economic growth and climate change.
Santos said LWUA is pulling all stops to ensure the success of the first ever nation-wide Water Caravan which will be launched from the LWUA headquarters in Balara, Quezon City and will have be held in various divergence points around the country. The Water Caravan will be held simultaneously in Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao.
LWUA Board Chairman Rene C. Villa and Administrator Santos and other top agency management officials will lead the simultaneous series of parades and motorcades to be composed of delegations of water districts in the areas mentioned to culminate in programs and ceremonies in the designated convergence points.
LWUA has been in communication with the Philippine Association of Water Districts and its area, regional and provincial affiliates as well as the identified host water districts to firm up the details of the unprecedented effort at a nationwide caravan involving the country’s main water supply providers.
