Arguably, the most exciting music and arts festival in the country is the Malasimbo Music and Arts Festival. Last weekend’s event saw thousands of music, art and nature lovers flocking to the foothills of majestic Mt. Malasimbo in Puerto Galera, Mindoro.

Endorsed by the Department of Tourism as a catalyst for the advancement of the Philippine music and culture, “Malasimbo” is the first international music and arts festival of its kind in the Asia-Pacific. Local and international artists and art enthusiasts come to share their creative energy at  the natural amphitheater grounds of Mt. Malasimbo.

Indeed, the Malasimbo Festival experience is life-changing. It surely changed the way we think about our capacity to hold events that can attract the international community. Its unique program is recognized not just for its musical and artistic sophistication, but for the high levels of adventure, environmental consciousness and eco-cultural concerns. This festival isn’t just about fun; it also has a strong social responsibility quotient. Each year, the festival adheres to the d’Aboville Foundation’s conscientious regard for sustainable community development through the preservation of the indigenous culture and heritage of the Mangyan tribes of Mindoro.

Part of the proceeds from the festival contributes to the reforestation of Mindoro and to the preservation and proliferation of the indigenous Mangyan written language.

A Mangyan Village Exhibit featuring the seven indigenous home-styles is now a fixture on the festival grounds. This is where the island’s rich pre-colonial culture is shared through workshop and shows.

Summer collection
