BFP - ILOILO CITY CAMPAIGN

ILOILO CITY, Iloilo (PNA) — Fire authorities here have doubled efforts in disseminating fire prevention information in time for the observance of Fire Prevention Month this March. This, after the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) received three fire calls in Iloilo City in just one day last Monday. At noontime, fire believed to have been caused by faulty electrical connection destroyed 10 houses in Brgy. San Rafael, Mandurriao. On the same day, the BFP also received fire calls from Brgy. Taal, Molo district where fire nearly destroyed a residential unit, and another from Sto. Niño Sur, Arevalo which turned out to be a grass fire incident.

SCHOLARS SUPPORTED 

SAN JOSE, Antique, March (PIA) — Antique’s Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) continues to support the college education of 41 scholars in accredited government schools. 4Ps Provincial Head Jeffrey Gabucay said the scholars are children of 4Ps beneficiaries in Antique’s seven towns who passed the criteria set by the program. The seven towns - Bugasong, San Remigio, Laua-an, Caluya, Culasi, Patnongon and Hamtic have six scholars each although one student from Bugasong temporarily stopped school due to illness. Gabucay said the students are about to finish their first year of schooling at the West Visayas State University.

MARKETING LECTURES

NEGROS OCCIDENTALPIA) — Some 220 Association of Hog Raisers of Negros Occidental members attended the First District Hog Raisers Assembly held at Balay Kauswagan in Sagay City recently. The participants, who came from Escalante and San Carlos cities and Toboso, Don Salvador Benedicto and Calatrava towns, listened to lectures on swine marketing and went on an exposure trip to Sagay City’s Triple A Slaughterhouse . The province contributes almost 50 percent to total Philippine sugar production and is 95 percent rice sufficient. Hog raising is a vital part in the provincial government’s thrusts for food security and agricultural productivity.

VICTIMS BENEFITED

DUMAGUETE CITY, Negros Oriental (PIA) — Some 6,000 disaster victims in Negros Oriental will benefit from the joint US Pacific Air Force and Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) humanitarian mission dubbed “Operation Pacific Angel” which started last Monday, March 4 and will continue until March 9. Said mission will provide medical health services to 500 patients daily for six days in two sites -  Macias Sports Complex in Dumaguete City and Osmeña Park in Tanjay City. The includes medical, dental, and optometry services and engineering programs. The OPA is now on its sixth year.

NSO QUIZ

MAASIN CITY, Southern Leyte (PIA) — The National Statistics Office (NSO) conducted last month the 1st Municipal/City Civil Registration Quiz at Libagon town to celebrate 2013 Civil Registration Month here. The activity was conducted in partnership with the Southern Leyte Municipal Civil Registrars Association, Inc. (Solemcra), Provincial Statistics Officer Mae R. Almonte said in a statement. The civil registration month carried the theme, “Civil Registration, Bringing Public Service Closer to the People.”
