Comeback Kid

Jason Mraz has already enthralled his Filipino fans back in 2011 with his first-time concert here at the Big Dome that featured his long-time friend and ace percussionist Toca Rivera. In May, the multiple Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter returns for another concert at the Smart Araneta Coliseum, where he will thrill fans with songs from his 2012 release “Love Is A Four Letter Word” and his other albums.

Mraz is, of course, known for his massive hit “I’m Yours,” which was included in his 2009 release “We Sing, We Dance, We Steal Things.” The hit was hailed as ASCAP’s 2010 Song of the Year, and set the record for the longest-running song on Billboard’s Hot 100 in the chart’s 51-year history.

Announced by ETC, MMI and Ovation Productions, the concert will happen on May 14, with tickets already going on sale today through TicketNet.

You Don’t Want To Miss This Thing

Aerosmith was rumored to be holding a concert here as far back as 2011, but it seems this time “the bad boys from Boston,” as they are sometimes called (or maybe you prefer “America’s greatest rock and roll band”), will eventually land on our shores for a concert at the SM Mall of Asia Arena, also in May.

Credited for such undying hits as “Dream On,” “I Don’t Wanna Miss A Thing,” “Janie’s Got A Gun,” “Crazy,” “Cryin’,” and so many more, Aerosmith is one of the most popular touring acts in the world. Of course, Steven Tyler’s “American Idol” judging gig has also brought a lot of attention to the flamboyant rocker and his band, him being a bona fide viewer favorite on the show.

Thus, the band’s first-ever show in Manila is already being talked about in various social media sites, with its poster already proliferating on Facebook as of press time. Aerosmith’s “Global Warming Tour” brings them to Manila on May 8, with tickets also going on sale today.
