Toyota Racing Confirms WEC Entry
Toyota has confirmed its entry into the 2013 FIA World Endurance Championship, including the Le Mans 24 Hours.
Toyota Racing will field two TS030 Hybrids for the championship, with Alex Wurz, Nicolas Lapierre and Kazuki Nakajima sharing the #7 car and Stephane Sarrazin, Anthony Davidson and Sebastien Buemi driving the #8 challenger.
This year’s WEC will be contested throughout by 32 cars. The eight-race season will begin in April 14 at the Silverstone Circuit and end in Nov. 30 at the Bahrain International Circuit.
The second leg of the series will take place on May 4 at the Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium, then move to France for the Le Mans 24 Hours.
The fourth leg will take place in Sao Paolo in Brazil on Sept. 1 then move up to Austin, Texas for the American leg of the series on Sept. 22.
On Oct. 20, the series moves to Asian Region with the WEC being hosted by the Fuji Speedway in Oyama, Japan, then onto penultimate race at the Shanghai International Circuit in China on Nov. 10.
The very promising WEC entry list comprises only six LM-P1 cars but 12
LM-P2 sports-prototypes, along with six LM-GTE Pro and eight LM-GTE Am entries.
Other cars will be entered in WEC events on a race-by-race basis.
