DAVAO CITY – The Region-11 office of the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR-11) has announced the start of the comprehensive campaign for tax collection for the year 2013 in its area of jurisdiction.

The announcement came during a press briefing conducted by the BIR-11 here Wednesday.

Lawyer Glen Geraldino, BIR-11 officer-in-charge, said the campaign will highlight the various programs of the bureau that are designed to improve tax collections in the region.

Among the programs cited by Geraldino are the Run After Tax Evader (RATE) program, and the Oplan Kandado.

Under the RATE program, the BIR is mandated to investigate criminal violations of the Revenue Code, and assist in the prosecution of criminal cases.

While the Oplan Kandado empowers the BIR to suspend business operations, and temporary closure of non-compliant taxpayers.
