ABL: San Mig Battles Indons
Import Brian Williams returns from injury today as the San Miguel Beermen seek their third straight victory against the defending champion Indonesia Warriors in the ASEAN Basketball League at Tennis Indoor Senayan in Jakarta.
Williams, who missed the team’s last two games because of a knee injury, hopes to help the Beermen stretch their winning streak.
But more than that, the Beermen are determined to get back at the Warriors when they clash at 8 p.m. in the Indonesian capital.
The Beermen suffered a 99-97 overtime loss to the Indons after blowing away a 13-point lead in regulation at their own turf – the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig.
But it won’t be easy since Indonesia is also on a roll, having won its last seven games after dropping its first two matches.
Indonesia will be led by Mario Wuysang, Fil-Am John Smith and ex-PBA imports Steve Thomas and Chris Daniels.
San Miguel holds the second best record of 5-3 after victories over the JobStreet.com Singapore Slingers and most recently the Westports Malaysia Dragons.
Former San Mig Coffee import Matt Rogers filled in for the absence of Williams, helping San Miguel post a pair of 11-point victories against the Slingers (66-55) and Dragons (77-66).
