Women’s Celebration

BORONGAN CITY (PIA) — The Borongan City Women Council joins the nation in observance of Women’s Month Celebration this March.

Headed by Council President Gracia Anacta, a series of information caravans is set beginning March 11 up to March 15, with the end view of increasing the awareness level of women in identified remote villages on women’s and children’s rights.

This developed after cases of trafficking and women’s abuse had been reported to the Borongan police and to the Women’s and Children’s Desk, however, these problems were either resolved or addressed to, in partnership with the Crisis Management Center of the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO).

Child neglect is also a problem the council foresees, but the City Social Welfare Office (CSWO) reported earlier that so far, no case of child neglect had been reported to their office.

However, unconfirmed reports state that a number of minor girls work in some night spots here.
