‘Oplan Galugad’
The Quezon City Police District (QCPD) were able to round up 229 persons during a saturation drive called “Oplan Galugad” in the city that began Thursday night and lasted up to the pre-dawn hours of yesterday.
QCPD Director Senior Supt. Richard Albano said that those rounded up include those with arrest warrants; those violating the city ordinance against illegal gambling and drinking liquor in public; illegal drug possession; illegal possession of firearms; while the others are still under verification.
He noted that among those with arrest warrants were those wanted for murder, frustrated murder, homicide as well as drug-related offenses.
“This drive was not only intended to capture wanted persons covered by arrest warrants and pick up suspects in other criminal incidents to curtail crimes in the city but also to discourage criminals from other cities from holing out in Quezon City,” Albano said.
During the operation, police confiscated two .45 caliber pistols, two pen guns as well as sachets of shabu and illegal drug paraphernalia.
Albano said that they also seized a total of 12 unregistered motorcycles which are suspected to have been used in crimes.
