Sen. Antonio Trillanes IV posted bail on Monday at the Pasay City Regional Trial Court (RTC) for the libel case filed against him by Presidential son and former Davao City vice mayor Paolo Z. Duterte in connection with the P6.4-billion drug shipment smuggled at the Bureau of Customs (BOC).

Trillanes was with his battery of lawyers when he arrived at about 10:30 a.m.on Monday at the sala of Pasay City RTC Presiding Judge Rowena Nieves of Branch 118 to personally post bail on the four counts of libel filed by the Presidential son where a P24,000 bail for each count with a total of P96,000 was recommended for his temporary liberty.
Davao City 11th Judicial Region Branch 54 Presiding Judge Melinda Alconcel-Dayanghirang issued the warrant of arrest against Trillanes for the four counts of libel.
The libel case of Trillanes stemmed when the senator accused Paolo Duterte involved in the P6.4-billion drug shipment that was smuggled into the country at the BOC.
Meanwhile, security at the court vicinity was tightened on orders of Southern Police District (SPD) Senior Supt. Eliseo Cruz.
Prior to the posting of bail by Trillanes, Makati City police chief Senior. Supt. Rogelio Simon already had on his possession the copy of the arrest warrant of Trillanes thinking that the senator would be posting his bail in Makati but Trillanes instead surfaced at the Pasay court where he posted the P96,000 bail.
