The National Golf Association of the Philippines’ board convened yesterday and unanimously voted to put MVP Sports Foundation president Al S. Panlilio as treasurer in place of the resigned Abe Rosal.

Panlilio, also an avid golfer, graciously accepted the post and promised to work hand-in-hand with the NGAP in helping realize for the country its dream of winning a first-ever gold medal in the Olympics.

The 50-year-old former varsity basketball player with Ateneo comes in as a replacement for Rosal, the former Canlubang star in the Philippine Airlines Interclub who had to beg off from the position because of pressing matters.

“The MVP Sports Foundation has become involved in so many sports because of the Olympic dream,” Panlilio said. “And we believe that the Philippines has a shot in the sport of golf.”

MVPSF started its involvement with the NGAP late last year by bankrolling all of its amateur tournaments, making sure that multiple tournaments are played in all regions of the country to help in the grass roots development.
