CARMEN, Davao del Norte — In support for President Arroyo’s "Gulayan ng Masa" program, Rep. Anton Floirendo-Lagdameo has distributed various seedlings in various agricultural barangays in this town.

Lagdameo said that this is not only in support for the President’s self-sufficiency food program but also to make the area more green and beautiful.

Among the seedlings that were distributed by the congressman of this province’s second district to his constituents were okra, sitaw, radish, pechay, mustasa, and baguio beans in Barangay Tubod, Barangay La Paz, Barangay Minda, and Barangay Tuganay of Carmen district.

The Mindanao solon said that in times of food crisis, "we have to give priority to planting vegetables and other related livelihood program rather than prioritizing infrastructure."

This initiative, he said, was in line with the "PGMA Gulayan ng Masa Program" by the Department of Agriculture.

Lagdameo also visited the "Gulayan of Barangay Guadalupe in Carmen" where he encouraged everyone to make their livelihood sustainable. Lagdameo, whose primary platform is "barangayanihan," said, "I believe seeds distribution is one effective manner of helping our people. In this case, we do not just give them harvest; we teach them how to get good harvest."

He also added that these seeds, when organically processed, can beautify one’s environment, promote good health especially those of the children, and can be a streamlined source of income for the family.
