Ben Chan named 2013 Entrepreneur of the Year
Ben Chan of Suyen Corporation, who popularized the Bench brand of apparels, won the Entrepreneur of the Year Philippines (EOY) 2013 award. He will represent the Philippines in the World Entrepreneurship Of The Year Award in Monte Carlo, Monaco in June 2014.
Four finalists were named category winners: Leonarda O. Capuyan of Narda’sHandwoven Arts and Crafts, Inc. and Narda’s Trading Corporation, Small Business Entrepreneur 2013; Dr. Milagros O. How of Universal Harvester, Inc., Woman Entrepreneur 2013; Juliet D. Herrera of Serenitea Cha Kitchen, Inc. , Young Entrepreneur 2013; Mr. Ben Chan of Suyen Corporation, Master Entrepreneur 2013 and the overall Entrepreneur Of The Year Philippines 2013.
This year highlighted the 10th year of the Entrepreneur Of The Year Philippines. After 10 years, the program has honored more than 150 entrepreneurs from across different industries from all over the country. Ernst & Young (EY) Global Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Mark Weinberger, attend the gala as guest of honor.
The Entrepreneur Of The Year was founded in the United States by EY in 1986 to recognize the achievements of the most successful and innovative entrepreneurs worldwide. In 2001, Ernst & Young expanded the program and launched the World Entrepreneur Of The Year awards. In the Philippines, the SGV Foundation, Inc. established the Entrepreneur Of The Year in 2003. Supporting the program as co-presenters are the Department of Trade and Industry, the Philippine Business for Social Progress, the Philippine Stock Exchange, and the University of the Philippines College of Business Administration.
