BFP-QC records lower fire incidents in 2013
The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) Quezon City has recorded a lower number of fire incidents in 2013.
However, the agency said that it collected higher fire fees collection for the year compared to the previous year.
Quezon City District Fire Marshal Supt. Jesus Fernandez said that these achievements were due to their field inspectors’ improved system on monitoring establishments and fires.
Since he assumed post on April 2013, Fernandez imposed a reform agenda among his officers, particularly on the level of their performance. This, he said, made his men more alert in responding to the call of duty.
For 2013, the QC fire bureau collected P47.963 million, higher than the 2012 collection totaling to P40.607 million.
As for fire incidents, the city noted a slight decrease in number with 865 in 2013 compared to 868 in 2012.
Damage to damage properties also went down in 2013, with P151.464 million in 2013 from P177.339 million in the previous year.
With this, BFP – Officer in Charge Chief Supt. Carlito Romero lauded Fernandez for his efforts in improving the standards of the Quezon City Fire Station.
