BFP records 1,727 fire incidents in March
The number of fire incidents in March totaled to 1,727 , the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) said.
BFP data showed that 618 of which were structural fire incidents. This records a 4.33 percent decrease from the 646 cases in the same period last year.
The agency attributed the decrease to the success of fire prevention programs and campaigns in the country in celebration of the Fire Prevention Month.
Non-structural fires totaled to 934.
Vehicular fires went down to 42 from 57 last year.
BFP said that there were 767 grass fire incidents this year, 147 rubbish fires, and 20 forest fires.
BFP Officer-in-Charge Chief Supt. Carlito Romero said that the bureau aims to drag down the number of fire incidents not just during this summer season, but for the whole year of 2014. (Czarina Ong)
