Binibining Pilipinas now accepting applicants for 2014 beauty pageant
Manila, Philippines – Inspired by the recent achievements of Binibining Pilipinas candidates in international competitions, Stella Marquez Araneta has announced that the Binibining Pilipinas Charities, Inc. (BPCI) is now accepting applications for the 2014 Binibining Pilipinas beauty contest starting December 15, 2013 up to December 30, 2013.
“There are so many inquiries on how to join the Bb. Pilipinas beauty contest and so this early, we decided to start accepting application forms. They can visit the Binibining Pilipinas website for details,”’ said Mrs. Araneta, BPCI chairperson, in an exclusive merienda cena at the Araneta Center in Cubao, Quezon City.
“The girls do not have to be exactly prepared for the pageant when they submit the application form. What’s important is that they submit the application form on time,” Mrs. Araneta added.
The grand coronation night will be held at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Cubao, Quezon City on March 30, 2014. Araneta said the number of candidates for the 2014 edition of the Bb. Pilipinas will still be discussed.
This year’s batch, known as the Gold Edition of the Bb. Pilipinas, has produced two winners in competitions abroad. Mutya Johanna Datul is Asia’s and the country’s first Miss Supranational after winning in a pageant held in Belarus recently.
Last month, Ariella Arida placed third runner-up in the 2013 Miss Universe beauty contest held in Moscow, Russia. Cindy Miranda was in the semis of the 2013 Miss Tourism Queen International in China.
The country has also high hopes on Bea Santiago who will compete in the 2013 Miss International pageant in Tokyo, Japan on December 17.
Asked what the BPCI is looking for in the next batch of winners, Mrs. Araneta says: “We are looking for girls who have the desire to win and learn more than they know about the pageant. They have to really do their best and the fighting spirit, especially in the international competition. I know there are many beautiful girls out there who are qualified to join the pageant.’’
One of the candidates expected to join the 2014 beauty contest is 2013 Bb. Pilipinas first-runner up model-actress Pia Wurtzbach, who, according to beauty experts, is a strong contender for any of the Bb. Pilipinas crowns.
“I feel excited to compete with the other girls. I think the natural thing for me to do is to use all the trainings which I have been doing the past months and hopefully compete again next year,” said Wurtzbach.
At the same occasion, Datul says that she will be given a reception by the World Beauty Association, organizer of Miss Supranational contest, as soon as she arrives in Panama.
Then the international beauty queen will come back to fulfill her duties as one of the jurors for the 2013 Metro Manila Film Festival. “Mutya will resume her duties as Miss Supranational early next year,’’ said Tessa Mangahas, Public Relations and Corporate Communications Manager, Araneta Center, Inc.
